Change Process: (self-reported)
There are two major processes at work in the Stepping Stone Foundation. The primary process is effecting a nurturing environment in which children may experience a quality preschool education which prepares them for success in kindergarten which they may not have otherwise been able to experience. Our children enter Kindergarten with the readiness skills that allow them to begin to read and social skills necessary to work meaningfully with their peers and adults. At the same time, their parents who are obligated to attend ESL/GED classes, spend 6-8 hours a month in the classroom with their child, and attend 4-6 hours of parenting classes tailored to their needs, are nurtured to be positive, supportive parents. It is our intent that when parents and children leave this program, they leave a learning team.
