Change Process: (self-reported)

Our goal is to set in motion long-term success for our preschool students and their families. We seek to help those who are statistically destined to fail. Through their own hard work, they succeed.

We tracked five of our original 20 preschool students. All graduated from high cchool with GPAs of 3.5 to 4.1. All were recently awarded our “Billie Gannaway Memorial Scholarship” to attend college. Twenty percent of our original class was 100 percent successful. We now use better tracking systems so that we can maintain contact with all of our preschool graduates and provide them with academic scholarships for college.

Long-term changes happen, because preschoolers’ parents remain dedicated and involved. They work hard to complete their own high school education, allowing them to secure higher paying jobs and thereby improving their family’s lifestyle. Many of our parents also complete associate’s degrees and some finish their bachelor’s degrees. Some parents have become teachers in our schools. All become active volunteers in their children’s schools and communities.

Education is the key to success. The programs funded by A Stepping Stone Foundation provide education, opportunity, and success. We are breaking the cycle of illiteracy and poverty and strengthening our communities.
