Program Mission Statement: (self-reported)

Therapeutic Horseback Riding is the only program the Albany Therapeutic Riding Center, Inc., offers. The goal of the program is to teach people with physical, mental, and/or cognitive handicaps how to ride a horse to the best of their own ability (however limited that ability may be) in a safe setting with properly trained horses, instructors, and volunteers. Separate components of riding are taught (posture and balance, rein control, etc.) through various activities while the participants are mounted on a horse. Skills are combined and used as the basis for learning additional skills.
